On November 13, 2020, the Artificial Intelligence Talent Training Forum was held in Tianjin. The forum was hosted by China Computer Federation (“CCF”), CCF Tianjin Branch and Tianjin Artificial Intelligence Society (to be established), and assisted by Tianjin Telecom and Tianjin University. Bai Haili, Deputy Director of Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, Zhang Zefeng, Vice-chairman of Tianjin Science and Technology Association, Li Xiaojun, Deputy General Manager of Tianjin Telecom, Hu Qinghua, Deputy Dean of Tianjin University’s College of Intelligence and Computing and Chairman of CCF Tianjin Branch, relevant leaders from Tianjin Municipal Education Commission and Tianjin Science and Technology Association, representatives from enterprises and universities in Tianjin attended the forum.
Bai Haili first addressed in the forum. He said that university-enterprise cooperation was the new requirement for the development of education. “The integration of industry and education is the starting point for the development of higher education and vocational education. Higher education should go out of campuses and pay close attention to the needs of enterprises, society and the country. Talent training is the goal and the fundamental standard to evaluate all the work of the universities.” Bai hoped that experts, scholars and representatives of enterprises participating in the forum would take this opportunity to have in-depth discussion, to jointly explore new mechanism in talent training and to promote the development of artificial intelligence discipline.
Zhang Zefeng congratulated the opening of the forum on behalf of Tianjin Science and Technology Association. He said that Tianjin was building a national experimental zone for the innovation and development of a new generation of artificial intelligence, which was a major scientific and technological task entrusted to Tianjin by the central government. “We should seize the opportunity and speed up the construction of Tianjin Intelligent Port Project and provide strong scientific and technological support for Tianjin’s high-quality development.” Said Zhang, adding that the talent training in artificial intelligence related areas plays a vital role for the development of Tianjin and that establishing a talent training model with thorough integration of production and education is important for speeding up artificial intelligence innovation.
Li Xiaojun first introduced the latest development and breakthrough of China Telecom in 5G and cloud computing. He said that Tianjin Telecom has always attached importance to talents training. After years of efforts, Tianjin Telecom has cultivated many experts in the fields of communications, IT and security. Tianjin has a large number of colleges and universities and a rich reserve of talents. Tianjin Telecom is willing to join hands with experts and scholars to further expand research in the fields of artificial intelligence, big data and 5G applications, make use of Tianjin Telecom's market advantages, accelerate the transformation of achievements, and jointly promote the transformation of Tianjin manufacturing to Tianjin "intelligent" manufacturing.
Hu Qinghua introduced that with the rapid development of artificial intelligence in recent years, talents in this field of artificial intelligence are in great need. University faculties shall shoulder great responsibilities in the talents training. This forum could be an opportunity to explore education with experts and scholars in the field of artificial intelligence. In addition, Hu also introduced on CCF and Tianjin Branch, as well as the relevant progress in establishing Tianjin Artificial Intelligence Society. He called on everyone to join this society actively and jointly contribute to the development of artificial intelligence education and research in Tianjin.
Four experts and scholars from Tianjin University, Nankai University, Hebei University of Technology and Tianjin University of Science and Technology introduced their discipline construction and talents training program. Representatives from China Telecom Tianjin Branch, China Automobile Data Co., Ltd., National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin, 4Paradigm (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. and TEDA Jingnuohanhai Data Technology Co., Ltd. introduced their technological progress and talents training mechanism in the field of artificial intelligence. They also put forward the demand for more talent transfer and their willingness to carry out in-depth cooperation with universities in both research and education.
